Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped — if anything here is unclear, ask and we will explain it in plain words.

Who is responsible for your data

Solvey Nous Techne, a sole proprietorship of Mitali Singh, based in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. We decide why and how your personal data is used, which under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 makes us the Data Fiduciary for it.

When we hold data on behalf of a client

This policy covers data we collect for ourselves — visitors to this website, people who enquire, subscribe or use the chat assistant. It is not the policy for data held inside a system we built for someone else.

Where a client engages us to build or run something that stores information about their customers, staff, patients or students, that client is the Data Fiduciary for it and we act only as a Data Processor on their instructions. What we may do with it, how we secure it, what happens on a breach and what happens when the engagement ends are set out in clause 11 of our Terms of Service. If you are asking about data a business holds about you in a system we built for them, that business is who decides — and we will point you to them.

What we collect, and why

When you send us an enquiry

The contact form stores your name, email address, and — only if you fill them in — your phone number and company. It also stores the service you asked about, your budget and timeline, how you would like to be contacted, and your message. We use this to reply to you and to quote for the work. We cannot answer an enquiry without it, so providing it is a condition of using the form rather than something we ask separate permission for.

Before the form accepts a submission it checks that the email address has a mail server capable of receiving mail. That is a lookup of the domain only — the part after the @ — and no part of your address is sent anywhere.

We also record which page you were on when you sent it, the address of the site that sent you here if there was one, and any campaign tags carried in the link — the utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content values you can see in the address bar. This tells us which pages and which adverts actually produce enquiries. It is stored alongside your enquiry, kept for the same period, and is never used to build a profile of you or shared with an advertising network.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

We store your email address and where on the site you signed up. That is all. You can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, and we act on it immediately.

When you use the chat assistant

This one deserves stating plainly: your conversation with the assistant is saved. We keep the messages, a randomly generated reference for the conversation, and a note of which language it was answered in. We use it to see where the assistant gives poor answers and to fix them. Please do not type anything into it you would not put in an email — it is not the place for passwords, financial details or anything confidential.

Your questions are sent to an external AI provider to generate a reply. That provider processes the text of the conversation to produce an answer and does not receive your name, email address or any account information, because we do not have them at that point.

If you rate a reply with the thumbs up or down control, we store the rating and the reply it applied to.

When you use the AI crawler check

Nearly every free tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser and sends us nothing. The AI crawler check is the exception, because it has to fetch a robots.txt file from the address you give it. We receive that address, and your IP address in the hashed form described below so the tool cannot be pointed at one site in volume. We do not keep the address you checked or the result once the answer has been returned to you.

Automatically, on every visit

• Your IP address, hashed. We never store the address itself. It is put through a one-way cryptographic hash and only the result is kept, purely to count requests from the same source and stop one visitor flooding the forms. A hash cannot be turned back into an address.
• Aggregate page statistics. Which pages were viewed, roughly where visitors came from, and how quickly pages loaded. This measurement is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you between sites or sessions. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or any cross-site tracking.
• Standard server records. Our hosting provider records request details such as browser type for security and performance, as any web host does.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries — 3 years from the date of the enquiry, or sooner on request.
• Assistant conversations — 12 months.
• Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe; the opt-out itself is kept indefinitely so we never mail you again by mistake.
• Abuse-prevention counters — 24 hours.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal data, and we never will. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. A small number of service providers process it on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:

• our website hosting and content delivery provider;
• our email delivery provider, which sends the mail you receive from us;
• the AI provider that generates the chat assistant's replies;
• a bot-protection service that checks the contact form is being used by a person rather than a script.

We have named the roles rather than the companies. If you need to know exactly who they are — for your own compliance review, for example — ask and we will tell you.

We will also disclose data where the law requires it, such as a valid order from a court or a government authority.

Where your data is held

Our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed on servers outside India. We only use providers that commit to appropriate security and confidentiality standards, and we do not transfer personal data to any country the Government of India has restricted.

How we protect it

• Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), enforced site-wide.
• IP addresses are hashed rather than stored.
• Access to enquiry records is limited to the people who need it to reply to you.
• The contact form is protected against automated abuse and rate-limited.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you may ask us to:

• Show you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with.
• Correct anything inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
• Erase your data where we no longer need it for the purpose you gave it for.
• Withdraw consent you previously gave — the newsletter being the clearest example.
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become incapacitated.

Email hello@solvey.in and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that nobody else can request your data.

If you are unhappy

Contact our Grievance Officer, who is responsible for answering questions and complaints about how we handle personal data:

We aim to resolve complaints within 30 days. If we cannot, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This site and our services are meant for businesses and for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we do not profile children or show them targeted advertising. If you believe a child has sent us their details, tell us and we will delete them.

Cookies

We use only what the site needs to function. Nothing on this site advertises to you or tracks you across the web. The Cookie Policy lists every item stored on your device and what each one does.

Other websites

Our pages link to sites we do not run — a client's website, a social profile, a documentation page. Once you follow one of those links, their privacy policy applies, not ours.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business or the law changes. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and if a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you directly rather than rely on you re-reading this page.
