Speed audit

How fast is your site on a phone?

Enter your address and Google's PageSpeed engine loads the page on a mid-range phone and scores it. A full run takes up to a minute.

How to use it

Getting a useful result.

  1. Paste the full address of the page you want measured, including https://. Test one specific page rather than just your homepage — a product or enquiry page is usually slower and matters more.
  2. Read the mobile result first. Most visitors in India arrive on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data, and that is the number Google uses for ranking.
  3. Run it two or three times. Scores move by a few points between runs because they are measured against a simulated slow connection, so treat a single result as approximate.
  4. Fix the largest item in the list before anything else. On most sites that is one oversized image.

The three numbers that matter are LCP, how long until the biggest thing on screen appears; CLS, how much the page jumps around while loading; and INP, how quickly it responds when someone taps. Google treats under 2.5 seconds, under 0.1 and under 200ms as good.

A poor score is almost never one big mistake. It is usually a photo uploaded straight from a phone camera, a font loading from somewhere else, and a handful of plugins each adding a little. That is why the list is ordered — the top item is where the time actually goes.

If the report names something you cannot act on, that is a fair reason to ask someone. Send us the URL and we will tell you what is worth fixing and what is noise, whether or not you hire us.

Common questions

Why is my score different from the last time I checked?

Because the test simulates a throttled connection and a mid-range device, and that simulation varies slightly each run. Look at the trend across a few runs rather than a single number, and compare like with like — the same page, on the same tab of the report.

My site feels fast to me. Why is the score low?

You are almost certainly on a faster connection and a faster device than your customers, and your browser has already cached your own site. The score is measured on a first visit, on a mid-range phone, over mobile data. That is the visit that decides whether someone waits or leaves.

Does a perfect score mean more customers?

No. Speed removes a reason to leave; it does not create a reason to buy. It matters most when it is bad — a page that takes eight seconds loses people before they read anything. Once you are in the good range, further points are worth far less than clearer copy or an easier enquiry form.
