What businesses here actually ask for

Six of them, and two are cheaper than you expect.

Almost every app enquiry we take in Varanasi is one of these. The first is the one that pays for itself fastest, and the second is the one most people should buy instead of the one they rang about.

Staff who are not at a desk

For work that happens across the city, not in the office

Tuition bureaus sending tutors to homes, distributors running delivery boys, contractors with supervisors on three sites — the office finds out what happened when somebody gets back and remembers to say. An app on the phone they already carry closes that gap the same day.

Built for Victors Home Tutors, a tuition bureau here — their Android app is live in production.

  • Attendance, visits and job status recorded where the work happens
  • Photographs and signatures captured on the spot
  • Works with no signal and syncs when it returns
  • The office sees it without ringing anyone

Usually the honest answer

An app your customers install without an app store

Most businesses in Varanasi asking for an app do not need one built for the stores. An installable web app goes on the home screen from a link, opens like an app, works offline and sends notifications — and it costs a fraction of a store build because there is one of it, not two.

  • Installs from a WhatsApp link, no store search
  • Home screen icon, full screen, no browser bar
  • Offline pages and push notifications
  • One thing to update, not an Android and an iOS version

When the store listing matters

Android first, because that is what your customers are holding

A store listing is worth paying for when people look for you by name in the Play Store, or when the app needs something a browser genuinely cannot reach. If neither is true we will say so before you spend the money.

  • Published to the Play Store under your own developer account
  • Bluetooth, NFC and hardware the browser cannot reach
  • Background work that continues with the app closed
  • iOS built from the same system when the audience is there

One set of numbers

The app and the website run off the same system

Change a price, a room rate or a stock count once, and it is changed everywhere your customers can see it. Two separate systems is how a shop ends up selling something at yesterday's price because nobody updated the second one.

  • One place to change prices, stock and content
  • Orders and enquiries land in the same inbox
  • Payments through Razorpay or UPI into your own account
  • Built on top of the system, not beside it

In your name, not ours

Your developer account, your keys, fees at cost

The Play Store and App Store accounts are opened in your business name and the signing keys are handed to you. An app published under an agency's account is an app you cannot update without them, and that is a position no client should be put in.

  • Google's one-off developer fee and Apple's annual fee, at cost
  • Signing keys handed over and backed up with you
  • Store listing, screenshots and description written for you
  • Data safety and privacy declarations filled in honestly

The part nobody quotes for

Keeping it installable after launch

Android and Apple raise their minimum requirements every year. An app nobody updates eventually stops being accepted by the store, then stops installing on new phones — and the first anyone notices is a customer saying it will not download.

  • Retested and resubmitted as the platforms move
  • Priced after scoping, and always optional
  • Offered on apps another developer wrote, too
  • Changes go out through review, so allow a few days

The objection everyone raises

Half the lanes here have no signal.

Which is exactly why the work has to be recorded on the phone rather than sent from it. Step through a morning and watch what the office sees.

Out in the city

4G

Tutor arrives, marks the class started

Sent

At the office, same moment

  • 10:04 · Class started · Bhelupur

An invented job sheet, not a client's. The point is the third step: work done with no signal is recorded on the phone and sent up when it returns, so nobody retypes an evening's visits from memory.

What's included

What you actually receive.

A straight answer first

Whether this needs a store app, an installable web app, or just a faster mobile site. Most enquiries turn out to be the second or third, and saying so costs us the bigger quote.

Screens before code

Every screen drawn and agreed before any of it is built. Changing a drawing costs a revision; changing a finished build costs a rebuild.

The system behind it

The records, rules and logins the app reads from — shared with your website rather than kept separately, so nothing has to be updated twice.

Works without signal

Anything captured away from a connection is stored on the phone and sent up when the signal returns, which matters for anyone moving around the city all day.

Store submission

Listing, screenshots, description, and the data-safety and privacy declarations, filed under your own developer account.

Handover that means it

Source code, the signing keys, the store login and the data — in your name, backed up on your side, and pickupable by another developer without us.

  • Live Android app in production here
  • Yours Store account, keys and code
  • ₹75,000 Where a build starts

How we approach it

How an app project runs in Varanasi.

  1. 01

Work out if you need one

A call about who would open this app and how often. If a mobile site or an installable web app does the job, that is what we will quote for, and it will be cheaper than what you rang about.

  2. 02

    Scope and fixed price

What the app does, what it does not, and what it costs — in writing before anything starts, paid against milestones rather than up front.

  3. 03

    Screens, then build

You approve the screens first. Then it is built against the system your website already runs on, so there is one set of prices, stock and records rather than two.

  4. 04

    Tested on real phones

On mid-range Android handsets on mobile data, not on a fast laptop simulator. Including what it does when the connection drops halfway through.

  5. 05

    Published under your account

Developer account in your business name, keys handed over, store review submitted. Allow a few days for the review, on the first release and on every update after.

The one we have shipped

A tuition bureau in this city, and the app its tutors carry.

Victors Home Tutors match parents with tutors across Varanasi. The website was never the hard part — verifying the adult you are sending into a child's home was, given that no private business in India has a compliant route to check a government ID against a database. The Android app is live in production and the client agreed to be named, so you can read how the verification was built and go and look at the result yourself.

That is one shipped app, not a portfolio of them, and we would rather say so. iOS, Flutter and React Native are things we build with; nothing has gone out on them yet. What sits behind an app — the custom software in Varanasi — is the older half of the practice, and the national app development page covers the technical detail on offline, notifications and store requirements. If you want it decided in five minutes, message us on WhatsApp and describe who would be opening the app.

Good to know

App questions from Varanasi business owners.

Do I actually need an app, or will a website do?

Most businesses that ring us about an app need a fast mobile site or an installable web app instead, and we will tell you that before you spend on a store build. A native app is genuinely required for only a few things: being findable in the Play Store by name, reaching Bluetooth or NFC hardware, or running work in the background with the app closed. Camera, offline use, home-screen install and notifications all work without one.

What does an app cost in Varanasi?

It is quoted after a call rather than from a package, off the same floor as custom software — from ₹75,000 — because an app that records attendance for four staff and an app that takes payments from customers are not the same job. You get a fixed price in writing before anything starts, and it is paid against milestones.

How long does it take?

An installable web app for a straightforward job is usually a few weeks. A native Android build with a store listing takes longer, and the store review at the end is out of everyone's hands — allow a few days for it, and for every update after.

Will the app be under my own Play Store account?

Yes. The developer account is opened in your business name, you hold the login, and the signing keys are handed to you and backed up on your side. Google's one-off developer fee and Apple's annual fee are paid at cost, on your account, with nothing added by us.

Have you actually shipped one?

Yes — the Victors Home Tutors Android app is live in production for a tuition bureau here in Varanasi, and the build is written up on our portfolio with the client named. iOS, Flutter and React Native are things we build with; we have not delivered an app on any of them yet, and we would rather say so than let you find out later.

Can the app work when the signal drops?

Yes, and for anyone working across the city it has to. Work is recorded on the phone and sent up when the connection comes back, so a tutor in a lane off Godowlia or a supervisor at a site in Ramnagar is not stuck waiting for bars.

What happens to the app if we stop working together?

It stays yours and it stays running. The code, the store account, the signing keys and the data are in your name from the start, so another developer can pick it up without us being involved. We will hand it over properly rather than make it difficult.

Straight answers on cost

What you pay for, and what you keep.

Good work should not come with a guessing game attached. Four things we put in writing on every project.

  • No markup on anything we buy for you

Domains, hosting, paid plugins, stock assets, ad spend — you pay the provider directly, at their price. We do not resell them and we take no cut.

  • A fixed quote before anything starts

You see the number and the scope in writing first. Out-of-scope work is quoted and agreed separately — never done and then invoiced as a surprise.

  • The site, the domain and the files are yours

Source files and accounts in your name, handed over organised. Leave whenever you like and take everything with you.

  • Prices are published, not quoted on request

Our plans and what they include are on the pricing page. You can work out roughly what your project costs before you ever speak to us.

Websites start at ₹9,999, with a 5-page launch offer at ₹5,999 running now — see the offer or compare every plan.
